You have had the lesson. Your forehand is better than it was a year ago. You still lost on Saturday to someone with a worse forehand.
That is not a stroke problem. Your coach can fix how you hit the ball. What decided Saturday was where you hit it, and when, and how often the same choice cost you the same point.
Two different questions
A good coach answers how. How to load on the serve. How to take the backhand earlier. That work is the foundation, and nothing here replaces it.
Match data answers where. Where did your serves land, and what did each one win? Where did your errors come from? Which rally patterns earned you points, and which ones handed them over?
You can't answer those from memory. Most players remember the last three points and the one double fault they can't stop thinking about.
What the "where" looks like
Here are four questions a match analysis answers that a score line never will.
Where do you lose your points? Most players have a handful of leaks: one wing, a second serve that gets attacked, a return that lands short. Put them side by side and the biggest one is usually obvious.
What does your second serve really earn you? First-serve percentage is the number everyone quotes. Points won behind each serve tells you much more.
What is your rally plan under pressure? You may believe you play crosscourt until you get a short ball. The match shows what you actually do.
How many points were within reach? Not winners you could never have hit. Ordinary points you gave away.
Why serious players use both
On tour, players and coaches work from match data. It isn't because they stopped working on their strokes. It's because their coaches need to know what to work on next.
The same logic holds at your level. Take your analysis to your coach. A lesson that starts with "you lost most of your second-serve points to the backhand side" is a better lesson than one that starts with "how did it go?"
